A few months after that evening, news came that a neighbouring king has declared war.
সেই সন্ধ্যার কয়েক মাস পর খবর এলো যে এক প্রতিবেশী রাজা যুদ্ধ ঘোষণা করেছেন।
Bholenath and his king gathered at the royal court.
ভোলেনাথ এবং তার রাজা রাজদরবারে একত্রিত হলেন।
The king told Bholenath, "You are the Commander-in-chief of my army.
রাজা ভোলেনাথকে বললেন, "তুমি আমার সেনাবাহিনীর প্রধান সেনাপতি।
I entrust you with the duty of protecting my state."
আমি আমার রাজ্য রক্ষার দায়িত্ব তোমার উপর অর্পণ করছি।"
Bholenath came back home in utter despair.
ভোলেনাথ চরম হতাশায় বাড়ি ফিরলেন।
"I don't even know how to ride a horse", he told his wife helplessly,
তিনি অসহায়ভাবে তার স্ত্রীকে বললেন, "আমি তো ঘোড়ায় চড়তেই জানি না,
"How will I defend our borders against eight thousand enemy soldiers?"
আট হাজার শত্রু সৈন্যের হাত থেকে আমি কীভাবে আমাদের সীমান্ত রক্ষা করব?"
"Don't worry," his wife said, "I'll tie you to the horse."
তার স্ত্রী বললেন, "চিন্তা করো না, আমি তোমাকে ঘোড়ার সাথে বেঁধে দেব।"
In the morning, the king sent Bholenath a magnificent stallion.
সকালে রাজা ভোলেনাথের জন্য একটি চমৎকার ঘোড়া পাঠালেন।
Bholenath got up glumly on the horse and his wife securely tied him to it with a rope.
ভোলেনাথ মনমরা হয়ে ঘোড়াটির উপর উঠলেন এবং তার স্ত্রী একটি দড়ি দিয়ে তাকে ঘোড়াটির সাথে শক্ত করে বেঁধে দিলেন।
The horse did not like the feel of the tight ropes.
ঘোড়াটির শক্ত দড়ির বাঁধনটা ভালো লাগছিল না।
It reared suddenly and galloped off wildly.
এটি হঠাৎ লাফিয়ে উঠল এবং পাগলের মতো দৌড়ে চলল।
Bholenath hung desperately to its mane.
ভোলেনাথ মরিয়া হয়ে ঘোড়াটির কেশর আঁকড়ে ধরলেন।
Realising that the horse was headed straight for the enemy camp, Bholenath shouted in fear.
ঘোড়াটি যে সোজা শত্রুদের শিবিরের দিকে যাচ্ছে বুঝতে পেরে ভোলেনাথ ভয়ে চিৎকার করে উঠলেন।
The horse could not be stopped.
ঘোড়াটিকে থামানো যাচ্ছিল না।
Bholenath noticed a large tree with its branches hanging over the road.
ভোলেনাথ রাস্তার উপর ঝুঁকে থাকা ডালপালাসহ একটি বড় গাছ দেখতে পেলেন।
As the horse galloped under the tree, Bholenath reached up to grasp the branches and pull himself free.
ঘোড়াটি যখন গাছটির নিচ দিয়ে দৌড়াচ্ছিল, তখন ভোলেনাথ ডালগুলো ধরে নিজেকে মুক্ত করার জন্য হাত বাড়ালেন।
But the branches broke away in his hands.
কিন্তু ডালগুলো তার হাতেই ভেঙে গেল।
The horse had entered the enemy camp.
ঘোড়াটি ততক্ষণে শত্রুদের শিবিরে ঢুকে পড়েছে।
The enemy soldiers were astonished to see a wild-looking man tied to a fierce stallion, waving branches excitedly.
শত্রু সৈন্যরা একজন উগ্র চেহারার লোককে একটি হিংস্র ঘোড়ার সাথে বাঁধা অবস্থায়, উত্তেজিতভাবে ডালপালা নাড়তে দেখে অবাক হয়ে গেল।
"Help, help!"Bholenath was shouting.
ভোলেনাথ চিৎকার করছিলেন, "বাঁচাও, বাঁচাও!"
The enemy soldiers did not hear him.
শত্রু সৈন্যরা তার কথা শুনতে পেল না।
They were greatly scared.
তারা ভীষণ ভয় পেয়ে গিয়েছিল।
"This must be some great warrior come single-handedly to defeat us!"
"এ নিশ্চয়ই কোনো মহান যোদ্ধা, যে একা আমাদের পরাজিত করতে এসেছে!"
The soldiers were overcome with fear and instantly ran away without putting up a fight.
সৈন্যরা ভয়ে অভিভূত হয়ে পড়ল এবং কোনো যুদ্ধ না করেই সঙ্গে সঙ্গে পালিয়ে গেল।
Soon the news of Bholenath's great victory spread.
শীঘ্রই ভোলেনাথের মহান বিজয়ের খবর ছড়িয়ে পড়ল।
Everyone was amazed that he had defended his state all by himself against eight thousand enemy soldiers.
আট হাজার শত্রু সৈন্যের বিরুদ্ধে একা হাতে তিনি তার রাজ্য রক্ষা করেছেন দেখে সবাই বিস্মিত হলো।
The king awarded him in a public ceremony.
রাজা একটি প্রকাশ্য অনুষ্ঠানে তাকে পুরস্কৃত করলেন।
Bholenath became a legend.
ভোলেনাথ একজন কিংবদন্তি হয়ে উঠলেন।
It all had started with a drip-drip!
সবকিছুর শুরু হয়েছিল ড্রিপ ড্রিপ দিয়ে!

Answer: No, Bholenath could not be called a legendary character because all of the things happened with him by fortune even though he didn’t know how to ride a horse as well as he was not brave too.
