"There is my donkey!"Bholenath shouted, and running to the tiger, grabbed it.
"ওই তো আমার গাধা!" ভোলানাথ চিৎকার করে উঠল এবং বাঘটির কাছে ছুটে গিয়ে তাকে ধরে ফেলল।
He pulled the tiger's ears.
সে বাঘটির কান ধরে টান দিল।
"Move, you lazy donkey, or I will give you a hard time!"
"সর, অলস গাধা, না হলে তোর কপালে দুঃখ আছে!"
The tiger was really frightened.
বাঘটি সত্যিই ভয় পেয়ে গেল।
"This must be the terrible drip-drip!" Не thought.
সে ভাবল, "এ নিশ্চয়ই সেই ভয়ঙ্কর ড্রিপ ড্রিপ !"
Bholenath dragged the tiger home and kept him tied by a sturdy rope to a tree near his hut.
ভোলানাথ বাঘটিকে টেনে বাড়ি নিয়ে গেল এবং তার কুঁড়েঘরের কাছের একটি গাছের সাথে একটি মজবুত দড়ি দিয়ে বেঁধে রাখল।
In the morning, Bholenath's wife discovered the tiger tied to the tree and screamed in fear.
সকালে ভোলানাথের স্ত্রী বাঘটিকে গাছের সাথে বাঁধা দেখে ভয়ে চিৎকার করে উঠল।
Hearing her, the neighbours came running out of their huts.
তার চিৎকার শুনে প্রতিবেশীরা তাদের কুঁড়েঘর থেকে ছুটে বেরিয়ে এল।
Bholenath was sleeping. He came out, too.
ভোলানাথ ঘুমাচ্ছিল। সেও বেরিয়ে এল।
The people were all mystified.
সবাই হতবাক হয়ে গেল।
"Who tied this tiger to the tree?" They asked.
তারা জিজ্ঞেস করল, "কে এই বাঘটিকে গাছের সাথে বাঁধল?"
A neighbour said, "I think Bholenath can tell us.
এক প্রতিবেশী বলল, "আমার মনে হয় ভোলানাথই আমাদের বলতে পারবে।
I saw him last night dragging an animal through the storm."
আমি গত রাতে ঝড়বৃষ্টির মধ্যে তাকে একটি জন্তুকে টেনে নিয়ে যেতে দেখেছিলাম।"
Bholenath was too frightened to admit his mistake.
ভোলানাথ তার ভুল স্বীকার করতে এতটাই ভয় পেয়েছিল যে কিছু বলতে পারল না।
Everyone looked questioningly at Bholenath.
সবাই প্রশ্নবোধক দৃষ্টিতে ভোলানাথের দিকে তাকাল।
In the meantime, the tiger, disturbed and confused by all the people, had chewed through the rope.
এরই মধ্যে, এত লোকের ভিড়ে বিরক্ত ও বিভ্রান্ত হয়ে বাঘটি দড়িটা চিবিয়ে ছিঁড়ে ফেলল।
It ran away to the jungle.
সেটি জঙ্গলে পালিয়ে গেল।
The villagers were relieved.
গ্রামবাসীরা স্বস্তির নিঃশ্বাস ফেলল।
Bholenath now saw an opportunity to brag.
এবার ভোলানাথ বড়াই করার সুযোগ পেল।
"It is I who captured the tiger last night.
"গত রাতে আমিই বাঘটাকে ধরেছিলাম।
I even pulled its ears," Bholenath announced proudly.
আমি তো ওর কানও ধরে টেনেছিলাম," ভোলানাথ গর্বের সাথে ঘোষণা করল।
Everyone marvelled at his bravery.
সবাই তার সাহসিকতায় মুগ্ধ হলো।
Soon the news of Bholenath's bravery reached the king.
শীঘ্রই ভোলানাথের বীরত্বের খবর রাজার কানে পৌঁছাল।
The king was highly impressed.
রাজা অত্যন্ত প্রভাবিত হলেন।
He made Bholenath the Commander-in-chief of the king's army.
তিনি ভোলানাথকে রাজার সেনাবাহিনীর প্রধান সেনাপতি নিযুক্ত করলেন।
Bholenath and his wife were given a huge house to live in.
ভোলানাথ ও তার স্ত্রীকে থাকার জন্য একটি বিশাল বাড়ি দেওয়া হলো।

1. Complete the following sentences with information from the text
Ans: a. The tiger was frightened because it thought that it was Bholenath who was the terrible drip-drip animal.
b. Bholenath's wife screamed in fear when she discovered a tiger tied to a tree.

Ans: At night Bholenath thought that the tiger was his lost donkey. So, he brought it home.

c. Why were the villagers relieved?
Ana: Having been disturbed and confused by the people, the tiger ran away to the jungle. So, all the villagers were relieved.
d. How did the king reward Bholenath for his bravery?
Ans: The king made Bholenath the Commander-in- chief of his army. He gave him and his wife a huge house to live in. Thus, the king rewarded Bholenath for his bravery.
