Sharleen Mukundan is a renowned children's author. She has written Murthy: the Story Book in collaboration with Alka Shankar.
অলকা শঙ্কর একজন খ্যাতিসম্পন্ন লেখিকা। তাঁর সুপরিচিত বইটি হলো ‘দ্য মাইটি অ্যান্ড দ্য মিস্টিক্যাল রিভার্স অফ ইন্ডিয়া-এক্সোটিক ইন্ডিয়া’। তিনি তাঁর শিশুতোষ বইয়ের জন্য বিখ্যাত।
শার্লিন মুকুন্দন একজন স্বনামধন্য শিশুসাহিত্যিক। তিনি অলকা শঙ্করের সহযোগিতায় ‘মূর্তি: দ্য স্টোরি বুক’ বইটি লিখেছেন।

A tiger was caught in a storm.
একটি বাঘ ঝড়ের কবলে পড়েছিল।
He had wandered near the village, looking for something to eat.
খাবারের খোঁজে সে গ্রামের কাছাকাছি চলে এসেছিল।
On the outskirts of that village lived an ill-tempered old woman.
সেই গ্রামের উপকণ্ঠে এক বদমেজাজী বৃদ্ধা বাস করত।
The tiger huddled in shelter close to the wall of the woman's hut.
বাঘটি সেই বৃদ্ধার কুঁড়েঘরের দেয়ালের কাছে আশ্রয় নিয়ে গুটিসুটি মেরে বসেছিল।
The old woman was feeling very ill-tempered that night.
সেই রাতে বৃদ্ধাটির মেজাজ খুব খারাপ ছিল।
The rainwater was leaking through the roof.
বৃষ্টির জল ছাদ দিয়ে চুঁইয়ে পড়ছিল।
"There is no escape from this drip-drip", she muttered angrily, pushing her bed around the room to keep it dry.
"এই ড্রিপ ড্রিপ থেকে কোনো নিস্তার নেই," সে রাগে গজরাতে গজরাতে তার বিছানাটা ঘরের এদিক-ওদিক সরাচ্ছিল যাতে সেটা শুকনো থাকে।
She shoved the bed and a tin trunk against a wall.
সে বিছানা আর একটা টিনের বাক্স দেয়ালের সাথে ঠেলে দিল।
The wall shook.
দেয়ালটা কেঁপে উঠল।
"This drip-drip will be the death of me!"she shouted.
"এই ড্রিপ ড্রিপ ই আমার যম হবে!" সে চিৎকার করে উঠল।
The tiger on the opposite side of the wall felt the wall shake and was frightened.
দেয়ালের অন্য পাশে থাকা বাঘটি দেয়াল কাঁপতে দেখে ভয় পেয়ে গেল।
"The drip-drip must be a very dreadful creature," he thought.
সে ভাবল, "এই ড্রিপ ড্রিপ নিশ্চয়ই খুব ভয়ঙ্কর কোনো প্রাণী।"
Meanwhile, Bholenath, the potter, was out in the night, looking for his donkey in the storm.
এদিকে, ভোলানাথ নামে এক কুমোর ঝড়ের মধ্যে রাতে তার গাধা খুঁজতে বেরিয়েছিল।
Suddenly he saw an animal huddled in the dark against the wall of the woman's hut.
হঠাৎ সে দেখতে পেল, একটি প্রাণী অন্ধকারে বৃদ্ধার কুঁড়েঘরের দেয়ালের পাশে গুটিসুটি মেরে বসে আছে।
