"What do you mean by spoiling my race like that?" he shouted.
"আমার দৌড়টা এভাবে নষ্ট করার মানে কী?" সে চিৎকার করে বলল।
"Now the other horse and cart will win! You silly, little clown!"
"এখন অন্য ঘোড়া আর গাড়িটা জিতে যাবে! তুমি একটা বোকা, ছোট্ট ভাঁড়!"
Tuffy was upset.
টাফি মন খারাপ করল।
"You don't understand I'm a hero!"
"তুমি বোঝো না আমি একজন বীর!"
He ran out and sat down in a toy farm wiping his tears.
সে দৌড়ে বেরিয়ে গেল এবং একটি খেলনা খামারে বসে চোখের জল মুছতে লাগল।
Suddenly Tuffy noticed a doll's house in a corner of the shop.
হঠাৎ টাফি দোকানের এক কোণে একটি পুতুলের বাড়ি দেখতে পেল।
He saw smoke coming out of one of the windows.
সে দেখল একটি জানালা দিয়ে ধোঁয়া বের হচ্ছে।
"Fire! Fire!" shouted Tuffy.
"আগুন! আগুন!" টাফি চিৎকার করে উঠল।
"Another adventure! I'll put it out at once."
"আরেকটি অভিযান! আমি এখনই এটা নিভিয়ে দেব।"
He found a ladder and put it up against the wall of the doll's house.
সে একটি মই খুঁজে পেল এবং পুতুলের বাড়ির দেয়ালের সাথে সেটি ঠেস দিয়ে রাখল।
Then he took a big bucket, filled it with water from the farm pond.
তারপর সে একটি বড় বালতি নিয়ে খামারের পুকুর থেকে জল ভরল।
He climbed the ladder and threw all the water in at the window.
সে মই বেয়ে উপরে উঠল এবং জানালা দিয়ে সমস্ত জল ভেতরে ছুঁড়ে দিল।
Just then, someone caught him by the collar and roared, "And what do you think you're doing playing a silly trick like that?"
ঠিক তখনই কেউ তার কলার ধরে গর্জন করে উঠল, "আর তুমি কী মনে করছ, এমন একটা বোকা কৌশল করে কী করছ?"
Poor Tuffy was shaken like a rat.
বেচারা টাফি ইঁদুরের মতো কাঁপতে লাগল।
"Don't do that!" he shouted.
"এমনটা করবেন না!" সে চিৎকার করে বলল।
"I am a hero! I was putting out the fire."
"আমি একজন বীর! আমি আগুন নেভাচ্ছিলাম।"
Tuffy saw that he was speaking to a sailor doll who was making porridge.
টাফি দেখল যে সে একজন নাবিক পুতুলের সাথে কথা বলছে যে পায়েস তৈরি করছিল।
"Can't I cook in peace without you coming and throwing water at me?"
"তুমি এসে আমার উপর জল না ছুঁড়ে ফেললে কি আমি শান্তিতে রান্না করতে পারি না?"
"They won't let me be a hero," he sobbed.
"ওরা আমাকে বীর হতে দেবে না," সে ফুঁপিয়ে কেঁদে উঠল।
Soon after, he heard a cry and looked around.
কিছুক্ষণ পর, সে একটি কান্নার শব্দ শুনতে পেল এবং চারদিকে তাকাল।
There was a big bowl of water nearby.
কাছেই একটি বড় জলের বাটি ছিল।
In it were swimming two fine goldfish.
তার মধ্যে দুটি সুন্দর সোনালী মাছ সাঁতার কাটছিল।
And there was a small doll too!
আর সেখানে একটি ছোট পুতুলও ছিল!
"She's fallen in! I'll rescue her! This is a real adventure at last!"
"সে পড়ে গেছে! আমি তাকে উদ্ধার করব! অবশেষে এটা একটা সত্যিকারের অভিযান!"

upset : disturbed, worried (বিচলিত, চিন্তিত)
porridge: dish of oats boiled with water or milk (জল বা দুধ দিয়ে সেদ্ধ করা ওটসের একটি খাবার)

Write ‘T’ for true and ‘F’ for false statements in the given boxes. Give supporting statements for each of your answers:
(a) The farmer called the toy clown silly. [ T ]

Answer the following questions:
(a) What did Tuffy do when he got upset?
Ans: When Tuffy got upset he ran out and sat down in a toy farm wiping his tears.
(b) How did the toy clown put out the fire?
Ans: The toy clown took a big bucket, filled it with water from the farm pond. He climbed the ladder and threw all the water in at the window.
(c) Why was the sailor doll angry?
Ans: The sailor doll was angry because she was making porridge and Tuffy threw water at her.
(d) What real adventure did Tuffy find at last?
Ans: A small doll was swimming with two goldfish in a big bowl. Tuffy thought that she was fallen in. This real adventure Tuffy found at last.
