He caught hold of a little net and dipped it into the water.
সে একটা ছোট জাল হাতে নিয়ে জলে ডুবিয়ে দিল।
He brought the little doll out.
সে পুতুলটিকে বাইরে তুলে আনল।
But she slipped out and fell on to the table banging her head.
কিন্তু সে হাত ফসকে বেরিয়ে গিয়ে টেবিলে পড়ে গেল এবং মাথায় আঘাত পেল।
She began to cry.
সে কাঁদতে শুরু করল।
Up came a policeman doll and said fiercely, "What are you doing?
একটি পুলিশ পুতুল এগিয়ে এসে কর্কশ স্বরে বলল, "তুমি কী করছ?
catching the doll and making her bump her head like that?"
পুতুলটাকে ধরে ওর মাথাটা এভাবে ঠুকে দিলে কেন?"
"I was saving her from drowning!" said Tuffy.
"আমি ওকে ডুবে যাওয়া থেকে বাঁচাচ্ছিলাম!" বলল টাফি।
"I was having such a lovely swim!" sobbed the little doll.
"আমি কী সুন্দর সাঁতার কাটছিলাম!" ফুঁপিয়ে ফুঁপিয়ে বলল ছোট পুতুলটি।
"I swim with the goldfish every night.
"আমি রোজ রাতে গোল্ডফিশদের সাথে সাঁতার কাটি।
But that clown caught me in a nasty net and spoilt my fun.
কিন্তু ওই ভাঁড়টা একটা বাজে জাল দিয়ে আমাকে ধরে আমার মজাটা নষ্ট করে দিল।
He isn't a hero at all!"
ও মোটেই কোনো বীর নয়!"
The policeman locked Tuffy in a room in the police station.
পুলিশ পুতুলটি টাফিকে থানার একটি ঘরে তালাবদ্ধ করে রাখল।
Suddenly he heard a noise outside the window of the room.
হঠাৎ সে ঘরের জানালার বাইরে একটা শব্দ শুনতে পেল।
"Tuffy, Tuffy!" barked a little voice.
"টাফি, টাফি!" একটা ছোট্ট গলা ডেকে উঠল।
"It is I, Timothy.
"আমি টিমোথি। এই নাও দরজার চাবি।"
Here is the key to the door."
ঝনঝন! চাবিটা মেঝেতে পড়ে গেল এবং ভাঁড়টি তাড়াতাড়ি দরজা খুলে ফেলল।
Tinkle! The key fell to the floor and the clown quickly unlocked the door.
ঝনঝন! চাবিটা মেঝেতে পড়ে গেল এবং ভাঁড়টি তাড়াতাড়ি দরজা খুলে ফেলল।
Timothy and he ran off together and climbed up to the shelf.
টিমোথি আর সে একসঙ্গে দৌড়ে পালাল এবং তাকে তাকের উপরে উঠে পড়ল।
"Thank you. You're the hero!" he said.
"ধন্যবাদ। তুমিই আসল বীর!" সে বলল।
"I didn't stop to think.
কিন্তু তুমি দেখলে আমি সত্যি বিপদে পড়েছি এবং তুমি আমাকে বাঁচালে।
But you saw I was in real trouble and you saved me.
"আমি কিছু না ভেবেই কাজটা করেছিলাম।
" The toy dog blushed.
" খেলনা কুকুরটি লজ্জায় লাল হয়ে গেল।
"Oh! How peaceful it is up here.
"আহ্! এখানে উপরে কী শান্ত।
I'll never want to leave this shelf again."
আমি আর কখনও এই তাক ছেড়ে যেতে চাইব না।"
And, until he was sold, he never did!
এবং, বিক্রি হয়ে যাওয়ার আগ পর্যন্ত, সে সত্যিই আর কখনও যায়নি!

journey most. It was really a thrilling experience.
