There was once a toy clown called Tuffy.
একদা টাফি নামের একটি খেলনা জোকার ছিল।
He lived in a toy shop with many other toys.
সে আরও অনেক খেলনার সাথে একটি খেলনার দোকানে থাকত।
Tuffy longed to be a hero.
টাফি একজন বীর হতে চাইত।
He wanted to do something noble so that all the toys would cry out that he was a hero.
সে এমন কিছু মহৎ কাজ করতে চাইত যাতে সব খেলনা চিৎকার করে বলত যে সে একজন বীর।
He thought his little corner on the toy shelf was dull.
তার মনে হতো খেলনার তাকে তার ছোট কোণটি খুব একঘেয়ে।
"Why do you grumble so much?" asked Timothy, the puppy dog.
"তুমি এত বকবক করো কেন?" জিজ্ঞেস করল টিমোথি, কুকুরছানাটি।
"Be happy with us, Tuffy.
"আমাদের সাথে আনন্দে থাকো, টাফি।
Why do you want to go off and have adventures?"
তুমি কেন বাইরে গিয়ে দুঃসাহসিক অভিযান করতে চাও?"
Adventures are always exciting.
"দুঃসাহসিক অভিযান সবসময়ই উত্তেজনাপূর্ণ হয়।
I want to do something that would make all the toys take notice of me.
আমি এমন কিছু করতে চাই যা সব খেলনারা আমাকে লক্ষ্য করবে।
It's so dull up here on our shelf," replied Tuffy.
আমাদের তাকে এখানে থাকাটা খুব একঘেয়ে," উত্তর দিল টাফি।
At night, the clown climbed down from his shelf to look for adventures.
রাতে, জোকারটি দুঃসাহসিক অভিযানের খোঁজে তার তাক থেকে নেমে এল।
Now that night there was to be a grand race between two wooden horses and carts driven by wooden farmers.
সেই রাতে দুটি কাঠের ঘোড়া ও কাঠের কৃষকদের চালানো গাড়ির মধ্যে একটি জমকালো দৌড় প্রতিযোগিতা হওয়ার কথা ছিল।
The race was just starting as Tuffy climbed down.
টাফি যখন নিচে নামল, ঠিক তখনই দৌড় শুরু হচ্ছিল।
One cart came racing by.
একটি গাড়ি দ্রুত গতিতে ছুটে এল।
The farmer riding it stood up and shouted!
সেটিতে চড়া কৃষকটি উঠে দাঁড়িয়ে চিৎকার করল!
"Goodness! An adventure already! A runaway horse!" thought Tuffy.
"আরে! এখনই একটা দুঃসাহসিক অভিযান! একটা বেয়াড়া ঘোড়া!" ভাবল টাফি।
"Now is my chance to be a hero."
"এখনই আমার বীর হওয়ার সুযোগ।"
The horse and the cart came round again and Tuffy jumped at the reins.
ঘোড়া ও গাড়িটি আবার ঘুরে এল এবং টাফি লাগামের উপর ঝাঁপিয়ে পড়ল।
He held on to them and dragged the horse to one side.
সে সেগুলো ধরে রাখল এবং ঘোড়াটিকে একপাশে টেনে নিয়ে গেল।
The cart turned over and the farmer fell down.
গাড়িটি উল্টে গেল এবং কৃষকটি নিচে পড়ে গেল।
Tuffy stood by, helping him up, feeling very proud that he had stopped the horse.
টাফি পাশে দাঁড়িয়ে তাকে উঠতে সাহায্য করল, ঘোড়াটিকে থামাতে পেরে সে খুব গর্বিত বোধ করছিল।
But the farmer was terribly angry.
কিন্তু কৃষকটি ভীষণ রেগে গিয়েছিল।
Activity 1
Rearrange the following sentences in the correct order and put the numbers in the given boxes. One is done for you:
